My 3 Pillars of an anti-aging skincare routine

Applying moisturizer both in the morning and at night gives your skin the hydration it needs to look plump and smooth.

The second pillar is exfoliation. Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and reveal a fresh, radiant complexion. It also boosts cell turnover, which is important for keeping your skin looking youthful. I like to use a gentle exfoliator twice a week to slough away dullness and reveal brighter, smoother skin. Chemical exfoliants, such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), are great options as they can penetrate the skin more deeply. Just be sure to choose an exfoliant that suits your skin type and avoid over-exfoliating, which can cause irritation.

The third and final pillar is sun protection. UV rays from the sun are one of the main causes of premature aging. That’s why using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is non-negotiable. Make sure to apply sunscreen not only on sunny days but also on cloudy days, as UV rays can still penetrate the clouds. Reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming, sweating, or towel-drying. And don’t forget to protect your lips with a lip balm that has SPF as well!

In addition to these three pillars, there are a few other important things to keep in mind for an effective anti-aging skincare routine. Eating a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, getting enough sleep, and managing stress can all have a positive impact on the appearance of your skin. And of course, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day is essential.
